LCSO Will Add New Law Enforcement District On March 10

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will add a new district in eastern Lincoln County starting on Friday, March 10, 2023.

The current district will be split in half with the Charlie District located from just north of NC 73 Highway in the area of Unity Church Road to the Gaston County line. The new district will be the Denver District and will cover the area from north of NC 73 to the Catawba County line.

The Denver District office is located at 2493 N. NC Hwy 16 Business and will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to serve residents from both Charlie and Denver Districts. The office is manned by DCI Specialist Jeannine Sherrill who will be available to handle citizen concerns, do administrative work, take phone messages for deputies and distribute gun permits.

Residents will also be able to apply for gun permits, pick up copies of incident reports, set up residential security checks and many other services. The telephone number is 704-483-7084.

The Charlie District Office will be temporarily located at 8356 Shipley Lane, Denver, NC.

Why did it take five years to fulfill a campaign promise from Bill Beam's first term? That would have been cool information to have included in this article. LINCOLN HERALD EDITOR'S NOTE: Sheriff Beam made the request, but his budget is up to the County Commissioners. The new district won't be fully funded (with a new lieutenant in charge) until the 2023-2024 budget in July of this year.
