LINCOLNTON––With Ash Wednesday and Lent mere days away, many local churches are getting ready now.
That’s the word Thursday from Mitzi Williams, executive director of Christian Ministry of Lincoln County. Williams shared information about the First United Methodist Church of Lincolnton’s annual community Lenten services, with each beginning with a $6 lunch at noon, followed by worship, 12:30-1 p.m.
The services will be held on the following dates with these speakers from Lincolnton churches:
- Feb. 22, with Rev. Reed Conley of the Artisan Church;
- March 1, with Rev. Elizabeth Tester of St. Luke’s Episcopal;
- March 8, Rev. Ronnie Roseboro of Boger City Methodist;
- March 15, Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence of First Baptist;
- March 22, Rev. Dr. Larry Kimel of First Methodist;
- and March 29, Rev. Dr. Leonard Bolick of Emmanuel Lutheran.
Williams added that the public is invited.
“We hope you will join us,” she said, “for this time of reflection and devotion during the season of Lent.”
And in other news, Williams continued that the ministry’s LINC Meals program, which delivers hot meals to local elderly citizens across the county, has several new monthly routes available. They include Antioch on the first and fifth Thursday; Boger City on the third and fifth Wednesday; and First Presbyterian on the fifth Wednesday.
She added that volunteer drivers interested in helping should contact Mimi Rhyne by telephone or e-mail respectively at (704) 732-2691 or [email protected].
