LOWESVILLE––The Mylon Hayes Family will perform a free concert on Feb. 25 at 5 p.m.
The Vineyard Church of Lowesville is the place to be, according to noted gospel singer and concert co-ordinator Carroll Cooke. And although the concert is free, as Cooke recently noted, a free-will offering will be taken up.
The Hayes Family has been at it for more than a decade now. Mylon and Wendy Hayes, respectively from Boone and Morganton, are well known for their commitment to and deep roots within gospel music. They’re joined by their kids, Bailey, Conner and Kennedy Hayes. The members of this mixed group bring powerful family harmony and convention-style singing that has their fans raving. Twin sons Conner and Bailey and daughter Kennedy work on a full-time basis, alongside their parents, in their ministerial efforts.
Joining the Hayeses on the Vineyard stage will be Hazel Sain of Vale. Born into a musical family––the locally famous Cooke Family quartet––Sain began singing gospel music when she was just 6 years old. Cooke is her brother. In addition to singing, Sain also played the piano with the Cooke Family. In South Carolina, she directed both adult and youth choirs. Most recently, Sain has sung in a family trio, and she is now currently singing solo.
The Vineyard Church is located at 1062 NC-16 South in Lowesville, just down the road from Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church. The church features Southern, bluegrass and/or acoustic gospel concerts every Saturday evening.
