Unemployment Rate Improves

If you're looking for a bit of good news, here it is:

North Carolina's unemployment rate returned to single digits in June. The NC Dept. of Commerce reported Friday (July 17th) that the seasonally adjusted June unemployment rate was 7.6 percent, decreasing 5.2 points from May’s revised rate of 12.8 percent. The national rate decreased 2.2 percentage points to 11.1 percent.

The number of people employed in our state increased 227,498 over the month to 4,428,221 and the number of people unemployed decreased 252,047 from the previous month to 363,465.

The county-by-county unemployment rates for June will be reported on July 29th.
