Pandemic Continues To Cause Unemployment
Unemployment rates remained high in all of  North Carolina in the latest county-by-county report.  May unemployment decreased slightly in Lincoln County and a bit more in Catawba, but Gaston & Cleveland had slightly higher rates.

Forest Service officials urge the public to use extreme caution with fireworks to reduce the risk of igniting wildfires during Independence Day celebrations. Even small, legal fireworks such as sparklers, fountains, glow worms, smoke devices, trick noisemakers and other Class C fireworks can be hazardous.

Federal Authorities Seize Funds Tied To COVID-19 Unemployment Fraud Scheme
Federal authorities have seized $80,661.05 in funds held at bank accounts allegedly used to perpetuate COVID-19 unemployment fraud. The federal seizure warrant was executed by U.S. Secret Service agents. Earlier this week, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced the seizure of $48,742.50, also allegedly tied to a COVID-19 unemployment fraud scheme.

Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, N.J. establishment, is recalling approximately 42,922 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Saturday, June 14, 2020.
