Shirley Bolick Hutchinson was welcomed by Christ into her heavenly home on October 9, 2020.
As she peacefully passed, she was surrounded by love and holding the hand of her husband of 47 years, Jack Hutchinson of Conover.
Shirley had a great love and appreciation for antiquing, gardening, quilting, sewing, and was a master crafter and homemaker. She was also an exceptional cook, sharing delicious meals and desserts with her beloved family around the kitchen table where her legendary creamed corn was star of the show.
Shirley had a generous and loving spirit, which blessed her family, friends, and neighbors. They will miss her presence in their lives.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Oscar Lee Bolick and Ivy Pearl Bumgarner Bolick, her oldest brother Tom Bolick, her youngest brother Hugh Bolick and his wife Faye, her sister-in-law Janice Sigmon Bolick, and her step-daughter, Sue Yount.
In addition to her husband, those left to cherish her memory are nieces and primary caregivers Sharon White and Kristi Alfaro, both of Conover; her beloved younger brother, who could always make her laugh with his tall tales, Ned Bolick of Hickory; sister-in-law Jeanne Redden of Atlanta, Texas; and dear cousin with whom she shared many childhood memories, Betty Carolyn Echerd of Hickory. Her great-nephew Joseph White, and great-nieces Ivy and Isa Alfaro, were blessed to share many days with Aunt Shirley and to learn about her talents. Over the years, she played more games of Monopoly, Life, Old Maid, and Go Fish than can be counted. She took these "grandchildren" antiquing, shopping, picnicking and on many other adventures that enriched their lives.
Other surviving nieces and nephews are Amy Kotner of Murrieta, Calif.; Gary Bolick and Matt Bolick, both of Taylorsville; Ronnie Bolick of Texas; Jennifer Rowe of Newton; and David Bolick of Dallas, Texas.
Extended family members include step-daughter Vicki Anderson, step-grandson Scott Mingus and his daughter Sara, all of Hildebran; and sister-in-law Gayle Stafford of Conover.
Dear friends who will miss driveway chats and special times with her are Lori Dieter and Chrystal Wilson.
A graveside service to honor Shirley’s life will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Conover City Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Young will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Hartman's Haven Dog Rescue: PO Box 742, Conover, NC 28613.
