BESSEMER CITY, N.C. - Carson Lee Owensby, age 14, of Tennessee Ave., was called home to be with Jesus, and his Daddy on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 29, 2005 in Gaston County to Leanne Wray Owensby and the late Calvin Lee Owensby, Jr.
In just 14 years Carson touched more lives than he could imagine and made an impression with everyone he met. He had a smile that could light up a room. Carson loved playing video games. He also loved animals. He was an honor student at Bessemer City High School and was also a member of the BCHS band.
He was preceded in death by his daddy, Calvin Lee Owensby Jr.; great-grandmother, Iva Wray.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Leanne Wray Owensby (Randy); brothers, Chad Owensby (Sara), (twin brother) Carter Owensby, and Corbin Owensby; Maternal grandparents, Willard Cantrell (Sylvia), and Lisa Berry (Greg); paternal grandparents, Calvin Lee Owensby, Sr (Vickie Capps), and Tammy Hovis Welch (Tony); uncles, Brad Price (Amanda), James Cantrell (Bethany), and John Cantrell (Stacey); aunt, Jennifer Pierson (Jim); many close friends and extended family.
Carson will Lie-In-State from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at Carpenter-Porter Funeral and Cremation Services.
Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday September 24, 2020 at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Mike Wilson officiating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, social distancing and face coverings will be required.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
