James Thomas Leatherman III
October 28, 1942 - August 1, 2020

CROUSE, N.C. - James Thomas Leatherman III, age 77, of Crouse, died Saturday, August 1, 2020.

Mr. Leatherman was born October 28, 1942 in Lincoln County. He was the son of the late James T. Leatherman Jr. and Mary Huss Leatherman. He was a truck driver at Carolina Freight Carriers in Cherryville. Mr. Leatherman was a veteran of the US Army serving during Korean Conflict.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crouse. Pastor Rick Sloop will officiate. Social distancing and masks will be required. Inurnment will be at St Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery. For those who wish, you may come by Warlick Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. to pay your respects. The family will not be present. The family will be at the home, 2818 Old West 150, Crouse, NC 28033.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Sain Leatherman of the home; brother, Lonnie Joe Leatherman of Lincolnton; daughter, Amanda Mault and husband Rob of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Mandi Scronce of Vale, Matthew Mault of Charlotte and Nathan Mault (Nina) of Vale; two great-grandchildren, Gray Mault and James Thomas “J.T.”Mault.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 131, Crouse, NC 28033; Lincoln County Sportsman Club Scholarship Fund c/o Link Grass P.O. Box 35, Lincolnton, NC 28093 or to the charity of donor’s choice.

Warlick Funeral Home of Lincolnton, N.C. is serving the Leatherman family.
