LINCOLNTON––They say that coffee and friends go together.

And the same is surely true for America’s military veterans. For countless years, veterans have gotten together to swap stories and share camaraderie, all over a cup of joe.

In Lincolnton, there’s a new group for veterans of all ages and branches of military service. The Veterans Coffee Connection will meet for free coffee and doughnuts on Jan. 14 at 8:30 a.m. at the Barbecue King restaurant in Lincolnton, according to Rev. Sandi Hood, the director of community relations for Carolina Caring. Hood said Carolina Caring is proud to be a level-four partner of the “We Honor Veterans” program, an awareness program spearheaded by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Hood told The Herald on Wednesday that these coffee get-togethers are fun events for veterans.

“It’s so nice, seeing their faces light up,” she said.

She also thanked Lincoln County Veterans Services Agent Alex Patton for his help in making the event possible.

Hood added that the Veterans Coffee Connection meets on the second Tuesday of every month in Lincolnton.

For more information, contact Hood by telephone or e-mail respectively at (828) 466.0466, ext. 3212 or shood@pchcv.org.
