Where's The Bell?

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Some of you long time Lincolnton fans may have noticed that the “Band with the Bell” has been missing its bell.  Many people have asked about it and why the band has left it behind.  Well, it’s not by choice.  The bell was originally loaned to the Lincolnton High School Marching Wolves in 1976 by the U.S. Navy.  A recent change in Naval policies requires artifacts such as our beloved bell be displayed only.  This policy now restricts the band from moving the bell.

As a former member of the LHS Marching Wolves the bell holds a special place in my heart and the heart of many others.  The sound of the bell ringing in parades and after a touchdown is a fond memory that many of us hold dear and a sound we now miss.  The LHS Interact Club has teamed up with the band to help “Bring Back the Bell”.  The new bell will be used at many LHS functions just as the previous bell was used.

The fundraising goal for the new bell is $7,000 and anything raised over that amount will be used for upkeep of the new bell.  The old or “original” bell will be put on display at LHS.  Please help support the past, present and future of LHS by donating to the bell fund.

Donations can be made at any home game or sent to the high school.  Checks should be made payable to “LHS” with the note “BELL FUND” on the memo.  A banner will be made with a list of contributors and all donations are tax deductible.  Please mail checks to Lincolnton High School, 803 N. Aspen Street, Lincolnton, NC  28092.

Thank you in advance for supporting this cause!

GO WOLVES!
