For anyone who may have missed it in our article about schools reopening, here's the latest on Catawba County Schools plans:
Earlier this week, our school district and all principals sent out an email, text, and phone call to all enrolled families to let them know that they have 2 choices for the upcoming school year: The A/B/C Plan which we are currently operating under the state's Plan B - a hybrid model of in-person and remote learning; or, for families who are not comfortable sending their children back to in-person learning, we also have our Online Catawba K-12 Virtual Academy, a 100% remote option for all grades.
We are asking families to complete a Student Intent Form by August 1st for all students so we can plan staffing and classroom setups, school nutrition, allocate resources, and more.
We directed our families to our brand new website which has detailed information about both options. Superintendent Stover also sent out a video message via text and email explaining our' options. We also included a video walkthrough about how to navigate the website to learn about the choices.
In addition, you will find a detailed Safety & Sanitation Guide, a FAQ document that we are continually updating, information about childcare, Hmong and Spanish translations, and more.
Please note: our online virtual academy is open to all students in Kindergarten through 12th grade; you do not have to be a current CCS student to apply.
We are excited to be able to offer a very safe and inviting environment for our students to return while abiding by all state guidelines. We are also excited to be able to offer a 100% remote option for families who are not yet comfortable with in-person learning.
