7/12/2020 8:00:00 PM Maiden High Announces New Graduation Plans Lincoln County Schools delay 'traditional' graduations until Christmas

When the regular time for graduations came around, schools were closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Schools arranged various forms of graduation events to celebrate the class of 2020. In Lincoln & Catawba counties, the events that were held then were to be followed by traditional graduation ceremonies later in the Summer if the pandemic lessened and restrictions were lifted. That, of course, didn't happen.
On Tuesday evening (July 14th) the Lincoln County Board of Education voted to delay traditional ceremonies for the class of 2020 until the Christmas break.
In Catawba County, events will be held later this month--but they'll be different. Maiden High School has announced that it will have individual graduations for the Class of 2020 due to ongoing restrictions. The expectation is that all individuals wear a mask inside the school building.
If a student or any member of their family has experienced any of the symptoms/signs of Covid-19 over the14 days prior to their scheduled graduation date, they are asked to contact Maiden High School for alternative plans.
Graduation will take place during the following dates and times. Families will sign up for a 30 minute window: July 23rd (8-11 AM), (12-3 PM), (4-7 PM) July 24th (8-11 AM) (1-5 PM)
Six graduates will be scheduled for each 30 minutes. Each graduate can bring seven guests. Graduations will be done individually in the MHS Auditorium. All attendees must practice social distancing. There will be a chance for the graduate to decide if he/she wants to take the mask off to walk across the stage. Administration can take off their mask for pictures - per the family's request. The graduate can also shake hands with administration provided they use the hand sanitizer prior to walking across the stage and once again once they exit the stage. Administration will also use hand sanitizer between each of the graduates.
Once a family is signed in that morning, a pair of junior marshals will be assigned to the family to help them with the process/procedure of moving through the stations and graduating. All MHS staff and Junior Marshals will wear masks and practice social distancing.
There will be no gatherings in the parking lot prior to the graduation ceremony or after on the Maiden High School Campus.

Complete details have been sent to each graduate's school account and his or her parents/guardians.
EVERY senior/graduate needs to complete the survey in the email by this Thursday July 16th.

Bandys High School's revised traditional graduation will be in five ceremonies on Thursday July 23rd and Friday July 24th. The ceremonies will be 2-6 PM and 6-8 PM Thursday, then on Friday at 9 AM, 1 PM and 4 PM. Each graduate will be allowed seven guest and two parking spaces. They will have a designated time to arrive and should remain in their vehicle until directed to exit. The grad and famly will report to the front entrance of the school and must wear masks. Staff members will help to maintain social distancing. When receiving their diploma, graduates will have the option of removing their mask for photos if they wish. After their name is called and they receive their diploma, each graduate and their famly will exit the gymnasium.
At Fred T. Foard High School, graduates will participate in a Friday July 24th 2 - 6 PM or Saturday July 25th 8 AM - 5 PM ceremony. Graduates have signed up for a time slot; they will park in the band parking lot, then grads and families will wait under the front awning until the graduate's turn. Graduates can have 15 guests, but only six of those will be allowed in the building when their graduate's name is called. Masks are required while in the building. Several stations will be set up for photos, etc.
