LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Memorial Day celebrations across the United States would not be complete without the playing of “Taps” in tribute to our fallen service members.

Lincolnton resident Cain Leonard played “Taps” and “America the Beautiful” on the east side of the Lincoln County Courthouse today at 3 p.m. Citizens stopped to pay their respects at the monuments with the listing of names of those who died in service from Lincoln County during the short ceremony.

Across America CBS News “On the Road” correspondent Steve Hartman teamed up with retired Air Force bugler Jari Villanueva in asking veterans, musicians, teachers, and students of all abilities and ages to play “Taps” on their front lawns, porches, and driveways at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 25.  On Tuesday, May 26, selected videos that are submitted will be shown on the CBS Evening News.  If you played today be sure to submit your video on social media with the hashtag #CBSTaps, or upload it HERE with your location and full name in the file name.

Want to hear Cain’s playing from this afternoon, CLICK HERE to go to his Facebook where there are several videos of him playing.

Thank you Cain for your continued spirit during this holiday!
