YMCA of Catawba Valley Press Release
The YMCA of Catawba Valley is now enrolling children ages six weeks and up in their Child Development Centers and School Enrichment Programs at both the Adrian L. Shuford, Jr. and Hickory Foundation branches.
In the Child Development Centers and School Enrichment Programs, the goal as educators and child care providers is to support the role of the family in furthering each child’s individual growth. Programs are designed to meet the needs of the children, providing them with a daily routine and exciting activities, which foster each child’s individual development.
The YMCA is the largest provider of child care in the US. The Y provides a safe place for children to learn and grow, whether through out-of-school time offerings that complement remote school days or through essential child care for parents returning to work.

The YMCA of Catawba Valley was established in 1969 to strengthen our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Y engages over 21,000 men, women and children each year – regardless of age, income or background – to nurture the potential of children and teens, improve the community’s health and well-being and to provide opportunities to give back and support neighbors. The Y mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
