Friday Night Dec. 6th Scores
Lincoln Charter's boys team is now 5-0 after a win Friday night over Central Academy of Monroe 97-36.  The LCS girls won 49-25.  Lincolnton's boys team avenged a loss earlier in the week beating Alexander Central 60-55.

Shelby Wins, Kings Mountain Loses
Shelby beat Burns to advance to the state championship game next Saturday.  The Golden Lions have won five of the last six titles.  In the 3A regional playoffs, Kings Mountain fell to Charlotte Catholic.

The North Lincoln boys avenged an overtime loss to Cherryville from two weeks ago with a win Thursday evening; North also won the girls game.  East Lincoln split a pair with South Iredell--the boys won, the girls lost.

North Lincoln Wins Pair From Cherryville
When North Lincoln and Cherryville met two weeks ago, the Ironmen won 91-90 in overtime.  Thursday night (Dec. 5th) the Knights won the rematch on their home court 87-72, handing Cherryville its first loss of the season.  The North Lincoln girls also won.

It's Lincoln County vs Cleveland County in high school football this Friday night.  The Burns Bulldogs will play at North Lincoln and the West Lincoln Rebels will travel to Shelby.  Winners of those games will meet next week for the west region championship.

Nine players from the 4th-5th grade division who were selected to form an All-Stars team which will travel to Washington, D.C. on Nov. 24 to compete at a regional level in hopes of representing L-Town at the Championships in Orlando, Florida at the Pro-Bowl.

The NCHSAA Football playoffs begin this Friday night (actually, a couple of games--not in our area--were moved up to Thursday).  There is possibility of rain, but it isn't great until after midnight here.  In the eastern part of the state, rain is likely and several games have been moved to Saturday.

The East Lincoln Mustangs improved to 25-0  beating Newton-Conover for the third time this season.  The 7-1 victory advances them to the fourth round of the NCHSAA 2A Soccer playoffs.  They'll host Shelby--also unbeaten--on Saturday.

NCHSAA Football Playoffs Begin Friday
Jacob Cline, a senior defensive back for the North Lincoln Knights has been named the WLON Radio/First Federal Savings Bank Lincoln County Player of the Week for his performance in the Knights' win over Bandys 50-13 last Friday.  North, along with East Lincoln, West Lincoln and Maiden will begin 2AA playoff action this Friday.

The Fred T. Foard Tigers won the school's seventh state championship in volleyball Saturday.  The match was played in the Capel Arena at Fayetteville State University.  Michelle Thao was named the MVP.

The North Lincoln boys claimed their third NCHSAA 2A Cross Country championship in a row Saturday, while Lincoln Charter's boys won their second straight 1A title.  The North girls finished second, but Angie Allen finished first for individual honors.

The East Lincoln Mustangs soccer team continued unbeaten on Saturday (Nov. 9th) downing North Lincoln in a second round NCHSAA 2A playoff match.  They'll now take on Newton-Conover for the third time this season in round 3.

Football Playoff Brackets Announced
The brackets have been released and while North Lincoln didn't get the #1 seed in the west in the NCHSAA 2AA brackets, they did get #2.  Shelby is the top seed and Hibriten #3.  East Lincoln, West Lincoln, Maiden, Burns, South Point & Bunker Hill also made the 2AA playoffs.
