The East Lincoln Mustangs opened up a 42-20 lead in the first half and cruised in the second as they defeated the West Lincoln Rebels by a score of 81-48 in the South Fork 2A Conference game played Tuesday night.
East Lincoln had three players in double figures: Justin Kuthan had 15 points and 9 rebounds; Myles Adams had 13 points; and Evan Montanari had 13 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
West Lincoln had two players in double figures: Chevy Short had 14 points and Austin Flowers had 12.
It was the 18th win of the season for East and their fifth in a row, but they didn't gain any ground on Lake Norman Charter. The Knights beat Bandys 85-59.
The Mustangs will be at home Friday night against the Newton-Conover Red Devils, while the Rebels will play at Lake Norman Charter in the final regular season game.
North Lincoln beat Lincolnton 66-61. Trailing by six at halftime and by a bucket at the end of the third period, Lincolnton took the lead briefly in the fourth quarter, but North regained the advantage and held on for the victory.
The win improved the Knights' conference record to 9-4, in a tie with Newton-Conover for third place. North will host Bandys Friday night while the Wolves will play at Maiden.
The Red Devils beat the Maiden Blue Devils Tuesday 63-41. They held Maiden to just 11 points in the first half while scoring 32.
Lincoln Charter romped to a 40-29 halftime margin and beat Cherryville 80-60 for their 11th Southern Piedmont Conference win. The Eagles, now 11-0 in the league, 21-2 overall, will host Piedmont Community Charter in their Senior Night game Friday.
In girls' games, Lincoln Charter's girls beat Cherryville for their 11th conference win without a loss. The Eagles scored 19 points before Cherryville got their first basket. They held the Cherryville girls to just six points in the first half while scoring 45; didn't allow a single point in the third period; and finished with a 62-9 victory.
The East Lincoln girls beat West Lincoln 75-40. Brianna Tadlock had 14 points for East; Marlene Delgado, 11, Sara Rhoney & Ginny Oberbay, 10 each. For West Lincoln, Farrah Richardson had 14 points; Chloes Norman, 10.
Newton-Conover's girls continued unbeaten in the South Fork with an easy 64-24 win over Maiden. The Red Devils held the Blue Devils to single digit scoring in all four periods.
The North Lincoln girls beat Lincolnton 66-47.
