WFAC Track/ Girls All-Conference

The Western Foothills Conference has announced its selections for All-Conference in track & boys tennis. Here are the selections in girls track.

Cara Castro from North Lincoln was named the Runner of the Year and Chloe Soorus from North was named the Field Event Athlete of the Year.  Coach Jerry Castro was named Coach of the Year.

West Iredell's Alaya Gillespie was named the Track Athlete of the Year.

All-Conference choices were based on event performances.  They were:

Event:  4x800 Meter Relay 

  1. North Lincoln:  Kelbi Pierce;  Bella Wood;  Blythe Jaworski;  Bella Green
  2. North Iredell:  Valentina Celi;  Josie Chenevey;  Natalia Nieto;  Erica Anderson

Event:  Shot Put                    
From North Iredell:  Jewell Allen                      
From West Iredell:  Lily Jordan 

Event:  Discus Throw           
From Hickory:  Madeleine Johnson                  
From North Lincoln:  Carly Correll

Correll was second at the West Regional meet Saturday at Enka.

Event:  Long Jump               
From West Iredell:  Alaya Gillespie                 
From: St. Stephens:  Elizabeth Sumpter

Event:  Triple Jump               
From North Lincoln:  Angely Soto                    
From North Lincoln:  Erin Lamoutte 

Soto finished second in the event Saturday (May 14th) at the NCHSAA West Regional meet at Enka.

Event:  High Jump                 
From North Iredell:  Emily Campbell                
From:  North Lincoln:  Angely Soto

Event:  Pole Vault                
From North Lincoln:  Chloe Soorus                  
From:  St. Stephens:  Jordyn Horan

Soorus cleared 10'6" to win the event at the West Regional meet Saturday at Enka.

 Event:  4x200 Meter Relay

  1. North Iredell:  Lauren Davidson;  Maryanna Marshall;  Aylena Mykins;  Erica Anderson
  2. North Lincoln:  Ayanna Gaddy;  Erin Lamoutte;  Emma Glass;  Marianah Keville 

Event:  100 Hurdles             
From North Lincoln:  Haylee Gibson                
From North Lincoln:  Angely Soto

Event:  100 Meter Dash        
From West Iredell:  Alaya Gillespie                   
From  Statesville:  Nakirah Adams

Event:  1600 Meter Run        
From North Lincoln:  Cara Castro                     
From  North Lincoln:  Lori Glavan

Castro won the 1600 meter run at the West Regional meet Saturday (May 14th) at Enka.  Glavan finished third there.  Macy Parks from East Lincoln finished 4th.

Event:  400 Meter Dash        
From West Iredell:  Alaya Gillespie                   
From Hickory:  Madeline Mosteller

Event:  300 Hurdles             
From North Lincoln:  Haylee Gibson                
From  North Lincoln:  Erin Lamoutte 

Event:  800 Meter Run         
From North Lincoln:  Cara Castro                      
From  North Iredell:  Erica Anderson

Event:  4x100 Meter Relay

  1. North Lincoln:  Chloe Soorus;  Angely Soto;  Erin Lamoutte;  Ayanna Gaddy
  2. Statesville:  Ta’Leah Dulin;  Sakari Johnson;  Narya Smyre;  Nakirah Adams
The NCHSAA 2A and 3A state championships wlll be held this Friday (May 20th) at NC A&T University in Greensboro.

Baseball, softball, soccer, golf, tennis, track...there are so many different Spring sports, it's hard for us to keep up with high school sports and to recognize the student athletes from local schools.  We do our best, but we can't do it without help.  We really appreciate it when coaches, players, and fans help us with information, scores, photos, signings, etc. involving their teams.
