All five of the local tennis players were eliminated at the NCHSAA Individual State Championships on Friday.

Zach Zagortski and Piero Ravolino of Lincolnton won their first round match over a doubles team from Surry Central High School 6-3, 6-4; but they fell in the quarterfinalsto players from Franklin Academy 6-4, 6-1.

Lincoln Charter's Grayson Upchurch and Ben Shelton took their first round match over a duo from Salisbury 6-0, 6-1. They then lost in the quarterfinals to a doubles team from the North Carolina School of Science & Math 6-2, 6-1.

For the first time this season, Lincoln Charter's Connnor Milligan lost a singles match. A player from East Surry won that match 6-4, 6-4.

The team tennis playoffs continue Monday. Lincoln Charter will play its third round match at Salisbury Monday afternoon. The winner will play the winner of the match between Pine Lake Prep and Burns in round four.
