Freshman Kellen Karr got the win on the mound, striking out 8 of the 26 batters he faced. The Raiders staged a rally in the bottom of the 7th inning and scored four runs off reliever Jack Waggoner but couldn't overcome the lead North Lincoln had posted. The Knights had 13 hits--all singles--but left a slew of runners on base. Reese Moody batted 3 for 4; Maddux Walker went 2 for 4 and batted in two runs.

The Knights, now 11-2 overall, are a half game back of Fred T. Foard and St. Stephens in the Western Foothills standings. North is 8-2 in the conference; Foard and St. Stephens are 8-1. The Tigers host winless Statesville Tuesday (6 PM) while the Indians play at Hickory (6:30). North will play at St. Stephens Thursday (6:30). Foard will host Bunker Hill Wednesday (7 PM) and play at East Lincoln Thursday.

East Lincoln took batting practice at West Iredell Monday. The Mustangs slugged Warriors' pitchers for 16 hits including three home runs (by Gavin Houser, Garrett Michel, and Nathan Borchardt). Graham Smiley had three doubles, went 3 for 3, and batted in two runs. Borchardt's homer was a three-run shot. Michel had four RBIs.

The win gives East a 10-3 record (7-3 in the league). The Mustangs will host Bandys Wednesday (6 PM) and Foard Thursday (6:30).

Lincolnton will host West Caldwell in a 6 PM game Tuesday in the Catawba Valley Conference. The Wolves (9-6 overall) are 7-3 in the league and after beating conference leader Bandys last Friday 6-4, are in second place with a 7-3 conference record. West Lincoln, Maiden and Bunker Hill are all tied for third at 6-4. LHS will play at East Burke on Thursday (7 PM).

West Lincoln lost a non-conference game to R-S Central Monday 15-14. The Rebels will host Newton-Conover at 7 PM Tuesday, then play at West Caldwell at 6 PM Thursday.
