East Lincoln is now 5-0.  West Lincoln led but Maiden won their Homecoming.  North had a great first half but got outscored in the second, losing to Hickory.  Here are the scores from high school football.

East Lincoln remains unbeaten, now 4-0.  North played better but lost.  LHS came close but lost a defensive battle to Bunker Hill; Andrew Phelps had three interceptions and scored the Wolves' touchdown.  West Lincoln trailed for the first time this season, but came back to win over Bandys.  Here are the scores.

East Lincoln's defense helped the Mustangs to a 27-0 win at LHS.  West Lincoln ran all over Foard 54-7.  Other 3-0 teams are Kings Mtn. and Bunker Hill.  The most exciting game of the week was Shelby at Crest.  Crest won and Shelby is 0-3 for the first time in a decade.  Here are the scores.

Football Scores Friday Aug. 26th
West Lincoln romped in a 48-0 win over Cherryville.  East Lincoln scored 53 points on Forestview,  Lincolnton scored on the Wolves' last two possessions of the night and overcame a plethora of penalties to beat North Lincoln 20-17.  Maiden led most of the way, but lost at Watauga; and Shelby is now 0-2.  Here are the scores.

East Lincoln and West Lincoln are 2-0 in girls tennis this season.  They meet at West at 4 PM this Tuesday.  North Lincoln is also 2-0.  They play at Alexander Central Tuesday.  Here are the scores and schedule.

Soccer (UPDATED)
Last year, the Lincolnton soccer team had a great season--losing only to eventual state champion Shelby.  Most of that team graduated.  This year, the team to watch may be East Lincoln.  The Mustangs look strong, while the Lincoln Charter Eagles are now 3-0; and watch out for Bandys--a scoring machine.

It was the Mason Avery Show at West Lincoln as he scored all his team's TDs including one on defense in a 33-14 opening game win over North Lincoln.  The Mizell to Clark attack was back as East Lincoln beat Hibriten 38-8; and Maiden dominated Foard as expected 50-7.  Here are the scores from Friday night (Aug. 19th).

Troy, Alabama Post 70 took the American Legion World Series championship by defeating two-time defending champ Idaho Falls, Idaho Post 56 6-5 Tuesday night at Shelby's Keeter Stadium.

Cherryville Post 100 won its first game in pool play in the American Legion baseball state tournament Tuesday nigh.  They'll play Fuquay-Varina Post 116 Wednesday night at 7:30.  The final score Tuesday was 6-4.

Down two games to none, then behind 5-0 in the sixth game of the series, the Cherryville Post 100 American Legion baseball team came back to win the Area IV semifinal series four games to two with an 8-inning 8-7 win over the Gaston Braves Wednesday night.

UPDATE: Tuesday night's Area IV American Legion baseball playoff game got rained out in the middle of the second inning with Cherryville Post 100 trailing the Gaston Braves (posts 166-244) 3-0.  It was announced Tuesday night that it would be completed at South Point Tuesday at 7 PM.  That is NOT what happened.

A great pitching performance, some excellent fielding, a home run, and a wild play to end the game saw Cherryville Post 100 beat the Gaston Braves (posts 144-266) 3-2 in eight innings Monday night to take a 3-2 lead in games in the best of seven semifinal series of Area IV American Legion baseball.

Cherryville Post 100 evened the best of seven American Legion Area IV semifinal series at two games apiece with a win Sunday night over the Gaston Braves.  Game five will be Monday night at 7 at Fraley Field in Cherryville.

The Gaston Braves shut out Cherryville Post 100 in the first game of the best of seven Area IV American Legion baseball playoffs Thursday night.  Game two is scheduled for Friday evening at South Point High School.

Cherryville Post 100 wrapped up second round play in the Area IV playoffs of American Legion baseball Monday night.  They'll take on the Post 144-266 Gaston Braves in the Area IV semifinal series starting Thursday.

Post 100 Takes 2-0 Lead
Cherryville Post 100 started its American Legion baseball playoff series with two wins over Matthews; the first on Friday (July 8th) by a 7-0 score and the second in the best of five series Sunday night in Cherryville 3-1.  The two teams meet again (weather permitting) at 7 PM Monday at Butler High School.  A win advances Post 100 to the third round.  They earned a first round bye as the #1 team in the west region of Area IV.
