Golf Cart Hit by Drunk Driver Near Statesville: Two Dead
Two people were killed Monday night (June 13th) when a car driven by an allegedly drunk driver struck a golf cart in Iredell County. The Highway Patrol reports that the fatal collision occurred on Fort Dobbs Road in a residential area northwest of Statesville.

Atkins Named Long Leaf Pine Winner
Lincoln County Manager Kelly Atkins, who has announced his retirement at the end of this month, attended his last meeting of the Lincoln County Commissioners Monday night (June 20th).  At the beginning of the meeting, County Commission Chairman Carrol Mitchem announced that Atkins had been named to the Order of the Long Leaf Pine.

GC Police Investigate Animal Cruelty & Possible Dog Fighting
On Thursday, April 28, 2022 around 9 a.m., Gaston County Police Animal Care and Enforcement responded to 1911 Hemlock Avenue in Gastonia after receiving a report of dogs fighting in the back yard of the residence.  When Animal Care and Enforcement Specialists arrived, they found a deceased dog in the back yard.  They also found other dogs caged in the back yard living in poor conditions.
