A lighted sign at the tracks and a news story we published gave advance warning. The work on the railroad crossing on Optimist Club Road is now scheduled to begin Tuesday. Those who use that road to access NC16 (bypass) should plan to use an alternate route like NC16-business to NC73 to access the highway. Work on the Little Egypt crossing is expected to begin Wednesday and Sifford Road crossing on Thursday.
