Partnerships With Federal Agencies Lead To Drug Convictions

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – During the year 2020, due to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office partnerships with Homeland Security, Drug Enforcement Agency, and the U. S. Attorney’s Office, efforts focused on drug trafficking in and around Lincoln County has resulted in the following federal convictions for methamphetamine trafficking, conspiracy and firearms related offenses in 2021.

  • Dakota Reese Davis – pled guilty and is awaiting sentencing
  • Savannah LeeAnn Goins – pled guilty and was sentenced to 10 years active with 5 years of supervised release.
  • Joseph Michael Vassey – pled guilty, sentenced to 11 and a half years active with 5 years’ supervised release
  • Kimberly Nicole Wood – pled guilty, sentenced to 10 years active with 5 years’ release
  • Marlee Dare Griffith – pled guilty – sentenced to 10 years active with 5 years’ supervised release
  • Kenneth Otis Bethea, Jr. – pled guilty, sentenced to 10 years active with 5 years’ supervised release
  • Ryan Andrew Prescott – pled guilty and was sentenced to four years and three months active with 3 years’ supervised release.
  • Robert Allen Summerville – pled guilty, sentenced to 10 years’ active with 5 years’ supervised release.
  • Justin David Barnhill – pled guilty, sentenced to 12 and a half years active with 5 years’ supervised release
  • Matthew Zachary Coleman – pled guilty and received 17 and a half years active with 5 years’ supervised release
  • Vanna Lo – pled guilty, sentenced to 12 and a half years active with 5 years’ supervised release.
  • Donna Mae Bumgardner – pled guilty, sentenced to 7 years active followed by 5 years supervised release.

The total active prison time is 115 years and three months and 43 years of supervised release.

The investigative team was composed of Task Force officers assigned to Homeland Security and the Drug Enforcement Agency from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Gastonia Police Department, and Huntersville Police Department with support from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division as well as North Carolina Probation and Parole.   Lincoln County Sheriff Bill Beam said, “Our department has a great working relationship with our federal partners and that pays big dividends for Lincoln County in the fight against illegal drugs.”
