Tuesday morning (Jan. 4th) following the Sunday night winds that downed trees, limbs and power lines in many areas. One home in the Verdict Ridge area of eastern Lincoln County was heavily damaged when a tree fell on it. Some roads were blocked, but the biggest problem was the widespread power outages. The outage caused the cancellation of the scheduled Lincoln County Commissioners meeting for Monday evening.
In Lincoln County, as of very early Tuesday morning, some 250+ homes were still without electricity. In Gaston County, the largest remaining outage was north of Dallas with about 200 customers affected. In Catawba County, the largest remaining outage was west of Newton involving about 150 homes.
Shortly after midnight (12:05 AM Jan. 4th) Rutherford Electric reported that it had restored service to almost all its customers in Lincoln, Gaston, Cleveland and Rutherford counties.
In almost all cases, Duke Energy said electric service would be restored by later in the day on Tuesday.
