GASTONIA, N.C. - Detectives from the Gastonia Police Department (GPD) continue to investigate the December 17 armed robbery of one individual and the assault of a second individual that occurred outside an office building in Gastonia. Today (Dec. 29, 2021), investigators are releasing a surveillance photograph of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.
At approximately 6:52 p.m. on December 17, GPD officers responded to the Law Office of Kelvin Atkinson located in the 100 block of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Way for the report of an armed robbery that just occurred.
The investigation by detectives determined that the 40-year-old male victim and the 37-year-old female victim were outside the office building when the suspect approached them. The suspect displayed a handgun, threatened the victims with the gun, and demand property. The suspect stole property from the male victim and was last seen fleeing on foot toward E. Main Avenue and S. Oakland Street.
The suspect is described as approximately 5’ 3” tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds. The suspect may be wearing a military-style identification tag, commonly known as a Dog Tag.
