Press Release

Hickory Police have charged a young Shelby woman with the murder of an elderly Hickory man last weekend.

Last Saturday (Dec. 4th), Hickory Police responded to 2001 Startown Road, Preston Ridge Apartment 307 after receiving a call about a deceased person at the residence. Officers located the homicide victim, 72-year-old Robert Bruce Godfrey, inside the residence.

During the initial investigation, Godfrey’s vehicle was discovered missing from the residence and was reported stolen.
