West Virginia Teen Runaway Found Safe In Lincoln County

Lincoln County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A West Virginia teenager who ran away about a month ago has been found safe in Lincoln County.

Adam District deputies were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on NC Highway 182 around 10 p.m. on December 1, 2021. The caller told the Lincoln County Communications Center that his 16-year-old sister was there causing problems.

During the investigation deputies learned the juvenile left Parkersburg High School about a month ago and was picked up by her mother and her mother’s boyfriend although she was in the custody of the state of West Virginia. She was brought to Lincoln County where she had been living with her mother since that time.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies contacted the Parkersburg, West Virginia Police and it was determined the juvenile would be placed with the Department of Juvenile Justice in Concord, N.C. until she could be returned to West Virginia. Investigating officers were Deputies M. Smith, M. Bowman and Sgt. K. Davis.
