Public's Help Needed To Locate Missing Teen

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing teen.

On August 23, 2021 deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 4300 block of Otto Reynolds Road reference to a 17-year-old male who was missing. Johnathan Keith Merchant was last seen by his mother on August 13, 2021 when she dropped him off at a friend’s residence for a week-long trip to the beach.

When they returned home from the beach, Johnathan Merchant did not want to go home and was dropped off at a convenience store in Lincolnton. The mother was told Merchant left the convenience store in a black car.

Johnathan Keith Merchant is described as a white male, five feet – eight inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He has been entered NCIC as missing.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 704-735-8202, the Lincoln County Communications Center at 704-735-8202 or Lincolnton/Lincoln County CrimeStoppers at 704-736-8909.
