LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives have charged a Vale man with the sexual assault and kidnapping of a 36-year-old white female.
On August 3, 2021, at 8:16 p.m., the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sexual assault of an adult female. The victim provided details of the incidents that began on August 2, 2021. She explained that the suspect, Franklin Luther Beam IV, 41, of Lackey Road, Vale, N.C. lured her to his residence, since he was not supposed to be home because there is an active 50-B restraining order of protection between the two parties.
Lead Detective D. Renn said that upon her arrival to the residence, Franklin Luther Beam IV entered the passenger side of her vehicle and threatened to kill her unless she pulled into the driveway and enter his residence. She complied and they made entry to the home. Once inside the residence, Franklin Luther Beam IV instructed her to remove her clothing and had intercourse with her without permission.
The victim stated that Franklin Luther Beam IV would not let her leave the residence until several hours later. The victim had injuries consistent with her description of the assault. Arrest warrants were obtained for Franklin Luther Beam IV, as well as a search warrant for the residence. Mr. Beam was located in the residence but refused to answer the door. The search warrant was executed and Beam was taken into custody. He was transported to the Lincoln County Magistrate’s Office where he was charged with second degree forcible rape, first degree kidnapping and violation of a 50-B restraining order. Beam is being held in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center without the privilege of bond.
