He has been in roles as the Senior Datacenter Administrator, with his last six years as the Infrastructure Manager, where he managed the Datacenter, Network and Telephony areas of the county. Over his six years as the Infrastructure manager he oversaw large projects such as integration of the library system into County IT, 2 SAN refreshes and the desktop virtualization of over 50% of the county. Prior to this, he spent 10 years working in Motorsports as a Datacenter Administrator and IT Manager. “I am extremely excited to join Lincoln County and to be a part of the team of wonderful people I have met so far. I know Lincoln County has a strong IT department and I understand I have big shoes to fill for the outgoing CIO. My goal is to build upon the foundation in place, as I work to lead Lincoln County IT into the Future,” says Cohen. Ben currently resides in Gaston County but says “he wouldn’t mind making Lincoln County his home.”

In his spare time he enjoys riding both bicycles and motorcycles and spending time in the mountains hiking and camping.

“Ben has an extensive background in Information Technology, he brings the experience and knowledge to be able to address the needs of individual departments and provide an advanced infrastructure for the future of Lincoln County Government,” says Atkins.
