Ambulance Involved In Wreck

Lincoln Herald Staff

One person was transported to a hospital and two others suffered minor injuries Thursday morning when a Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services ambulance was involved in an accident in the Iron Station area. The accident happened just before 8 AM just east of the NC27 & NC73 intersection.

EMS released a statement later Thursday morning:

“At approximately 7:50 AM on May 21st, a Lincoln County Emergency Medical Services ambulance was involved in a motor vehicle collision while responding to a non-emergency call. There were three crew members on board the ambulance. The ambulance left the roadway and struck a culvert on Highway 27 near McMillan Heights Rd. An additional LCEMS unit was dispatched to evaluate the crew members for injuries. One crew member, an EMS student, was transported to Atrium-Lincoln with non-life threatening injuries. Two crew members had minor injuries and were evaluated on scene by responding paramedics but were not transported to the hospital. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.”
