Lengthy Investigation Leads To Arrest On Drug & Weapon Charges

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A lengthy investigation by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators led to a number of drug related charges against a Lincoln County man.

On March 8, 2023, narcotics officers executed a search warrant at an outbuilding located at 1998 Buffalo Shoals Road, Lincolnton, NC. The warrant was served following a lengthy investigation where officers used surveillance techniques and undercover purchases of several different kind of narcotics.

During the search, investigators seized 53 grams of methamphetamine, 9 grams of fentanyl, 5 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 108 grams of marijuana and a firearm reported stolen from Rock Hill, S.C.

Officers arrested Chad Christopher Caldwell, 50, of Buffalo Shoals Road, Lincolnton, NC on a number of charges including trafficking in methamphetamine, three felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver controlled substance Schedule II, possession of controlled substance Schedule I, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, trafficking in opium or heroin, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule VI, possession with the intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule II, possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance Schedule IV, possession of a controlled substance Schedule II, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Caldwell was taken before a Lincoln County magistrate and placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $460,000 secured bond.
