Lincoln County Sheriff's
Office Press Release

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – A woman is facing charges after she broke into an occupied dwelling on Lander’s Church Road on January 13, 2021.

Deputies were dispatched to the area after the female victim reported the woman entered her residence and was still on the property. Deputies located the suspect, Jessica Marie Horne, 29, of Vale, NC standing on the back porch of the home.

She told officers that she had been kicked out of her father’s residence and he dropped her off at a home near where the victim lives. The suspect told officers she was hearing voices and people were after her so she ran to the back of the victim’s residence in the 3200 block of Lander’s Church Road. She entered the residence through the back door where she encountered the homeowner who persuaded the woman to wait on the back porch for officers to arrive.

Horne was charged with misdemeanor breaking and entering a building. She was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $1,500 secured bond.

This incident occurred in an area of suspected illegal drug activity. Anyone who believes they are having problems with drug activity in their neighborhood is asked to contact the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Drug Tip Line at 704-736-8606. All tips will be investigated.
