Gastonia Police Searching For Hit & Run Vehicle

Gastonia Police are investigating a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian on West Franklin Boulevard near Sante Circle.

Officers responded to a call about a pedestrian who had been struck at about 5:50 AM Thursday. The victim died at the scene and has been identified as James Marshall Nichols, 33, of Kings Mountain. Nichols was walking from Kings Mountain to Gastonia when he was struck.

Investigators believe the suspect vehicle may be a 2005-2010 black Jeep Grand Cherokee.  They believe that the vehicle may have front-end damage. Anyone with information to help the investigation is asked to call the Gastonia Police Department Traffic Unit at 704-866-6702.
