At its meeting Tuesday evening (July 14th), the Lincoln County Board of Education appointed Dr. Aaron Allen to serve Interim Superintendent beginning October 7th when current Superintendent Dr. Lory Morrow retires.
Dr. Allen currently serves as Associate Superintendent of Lincoln County Schools, a position he has held since 2016. He has also been the Public Information Officer (PIO) for Lincoln County Schools.
Dr. Allen has served Lincoln County Schools for 12 years in various roles including Assistant Principal, Principal, Human Resources Director, and Assistant Superintendent. A native of Kings Mountain, Dr. Allen holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Temple University, Gardner-Webb University, and Appalachian State University. He has worked in education for 22 years.
Dr. Allen will serve as Interim Superintendent until the Board chooses Dr. Morrow’s successor. The Board will begin the search for the new Superintendent after the November 3rd election and hopes to select a new superintendent by Spring of 2021.
Cathy Davis, chair of the Board of Education Chair remarked, “Members of the Board realize that this coming school year will be filled with challenges due to COVID-19, coupled with the departure of Dr. Morrow and it gives reason, strong reason, that it is imperative that the interim should be someone knowledgeable of every aspect of our district. Dr. Allen is qualified--with years of experience, serving in various positions as well as being very involved in our current COVID-19 efforts, safety initiatives, etc. and the BOE has confidence in his ability to lead.”
Dr. Allen lives in the Vale community with his wife and three children.
