January 2023 was here on time...
But people may have been better...
Better off if they did not have a TV...
Maybe not better off...
But happier...

The United States is so different...
Different from the country...
The country we used to live in...
What has happened to us...
When did it happen...

There was a time...
A time when we felt safer...
Maybe it was a mistake...
But it certainly felt better...
Better than what we feel now...

There was a time…
A time when the big city offered...
Offered opportunities...
Opportunities of better jobs...
Young people left the farms...
Left and were successful...
“Jobs” and “work” were not bad words...

2023 seems to have changed...
Changed people...
Top stories on the TV are...
Are shootings, robberies and riots...
These stories do not make..
Make citizens happy or proud...

Children need to be happy...
Children need to be secure...
Adults need the same things...
People are all the same inside...

There has got to be answers...
Maybe they will be hard to find...
But we must not stop looking...
We must not give up...

Many older people say they are scared...
They do not watch the news cause...
Cause it upsets them...
They feel helpless...
They feel unnecessary...

The word “free” has replaced...
Replaced the word “earn”...

The people who were born...
Born in the 40's are...
Are in their 80's now...
If they are still alive...
Most of these folks worked...
Worked ‘til they were 65...
Then they retired and now...
Now they stay at home...

They pray for the America they loved...
They pray for the Americans they love...

THEY PRAY A LOT...
THEY KNOW HOW TO PRAY...
AND THEY KNOW WHAT TO PRAY FOR...
THEY KNOW WHO TO PRAY TO...
WHO TO ASK FOR HELP...
