Today in History in 1579 Francis Drake left San Francisco to cross the Pacific Ocean; 1775 the United States Post Office was created in Philadelphia under Benjamin Franklin; 1835 the first sugar cane plantation was started in Hawaii; and in 1971 Apollo 15 was launched for the fourth manned landing on Moon.
